Scott A. Bursor Appointed Interim Class Counsel in O'Brien v. LG Electronics USA, Inc.

On December 16, 2010, Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Dickson of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey appointed Scott A. Bursor to serve as Interim Class Counsel in O'Brien v. LG Electronics USA, Inc., to represent a putative nationwide class of purchasers of LG French-door refrigerators.

The lawsuit alleges that LG labeled refrigerators with the Energy Star logo, though independent testing showed the refrigerators did not meet the minimum standards for energy efficiency under federal law.

"This is an absolutely original case, and we are excited at the chance to make new law," said Scott A. Bursor. "This is the first case anywhere asserting class action claims for mislabeling an appliance with the Energy Star logo. I'm pleased that Judge Dickson recognized our efforts with this appointment, and I look forward to helping to blaze new trails in this area of the law."
