Bursor & Fisher, P.A. Appointed Interim Class Counsel in Coast Cutlery Lawsuit

On September 8, 2011, Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey appointed Bursor & Fisher, P.A. to serve as Interim Class Counsel in Loreto v. Coast Cutlery Co., Case No. 11-3977 (SDW)(MCA), to represent a proposed nationwide class of consumers who purchased knives or tools made by Coast Cutlery.

Coast's packaging and advertisements state that Coast knives and tools are made "only from the finest quality 440C specially treated cutlery steel from Seki, Japan." The lawsuit alleges that Coast's products are actually made from cheaper, lower quality metals.

"Our complaint alleges that 75 Coast Cutlery knives and tools were submitted to an independent laboratory for testing, and not one met the chemical composition or hardness values required by the specification for 440C stainless steel," said Scott A. Bursor, one of the firm's partners handling the matter. "We are confident we can prove our clients' claims, and we will prosecute this case vigorously to seek justice for the purchasers of these mislabeled products."
