February 21, 2012 Bursor & Fisher, P.A. Appointed Interim Class Counsel in Maytag Lawsuit On February 21, 2012, Judge Stanley R. Chesler of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey appointed Bursor & Fisher, P.A. to serve as Interim Class Counsel in Dzielak v. Whirlpool Corp. et al., to represent a proposed nationwide class of persons who purchased mislabeled Maytag Centennial washing machines from Whirlpool Corp., Sears, and other retailers. The lawsuit alleges that Whirlpool and others misrepresented the energy efficiency of Maytag Centennial washing machines by promoting them as ENERGY STAR-qualified and labeling them with the ENERGY STAR logo. In fact, the appliances do not meet the ENERGY STAR standards for energy efficiency and consume significantly more energy than the label states. "We are pleased that Judge Chesler appointed our firm as Interim Class Counsel in this case," said Scott A. Bursor, one of the firm's partners handling the matter. "We have experience litigating similar claims against LG and Sears, and we intend to litigate this case aggressively on behalf of our clients and all of those class members who purchased mislabeled appliances from Whirlpool."
