$4 million Haier Freezer Settlement

On October 25, 2013, Judge Edward J. Davila of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California granted final approval to a $4 million class action settlement in In re Haier Freezer Consumer Litigation. The settlement provides for cash payments of between $50 and $325.80 for consumers across the United States who purchased the Haier HNCM070E chest freezer.

Bursor & Fisher, P.A. filed the case in June, 2011 and alleged that Haier had misrepresented the energy consumption of its HNCM070E freezer on the ENERGYGUIDE labels attached to the freezers.

“We are very proud of this settlement and the significant monetary relief it provides to consumers across the country. We are happy that Judge Davila approved the settlement and recognized that it is putting real money in the pockets of class members,” said Bursor & Fisher, P.A. partner L. Timothy Fisher.
