Google Education Privacy Settlement Approved

On October 17, 2025 Judge Heidi A. Benson of the Circuit Court for the County of McDonough, State of Illinois granted final approval of the class action settlement in Farwell v. Google LLC. Bursor & Fisher filed the lawsuit in 2020 alleging BIPA privacy violations on behalf of Illinois students using Google’s Workspace for Education platform. The settlement provides an $8.75 million cash common fund for the benefit of class members.
