The Problem
Frontier (formerly known as Verizon California) charged late fees to its landline telephone customers that the plaintiffs alleged were unlawful under California law.
What We Did
We filed a class action lawsuit in the San Francisco Superior Court on behalf of every Frontier customer in California who paid or was charged a late fee. We litigated the case for more than six years.
What Our Clients Got
The Court approved incentive awards of $4,000 each to the named plaintiffs. Class members who paid late fees received a share of the $10.6 million settlement fund depending on the number and amount of late fees they paid. Frontier also agreed to significantly reduce the amount of the late fees it charged its customers.
